Want to add a custom image to the header area of your site like we've done here? First you'll need to create a new style for your website. Navigate to Structure & Style > Appearance and click Create a New Style

Select one of our styles to use as a starting point for your new personal variant, and click create. You'll then return to the Appearance tab, where you'll be able to Activate or Customize the style you've created.

Clicking Customize on your newly created style will take you to the style editor. Once there, click the Banner & Icons tab. Here you will see a field to add a banner image. You have three options:

  1. Upload a new image. Click the button to the right of the Banner Image (URL) field. In the pop up window that appears, click the page icon to the right of the URL to Image field to browse for the file to upload from your computer.
  2. Select an image you've already uploaded to Resources > General Storage. Click the button to the right of the Banner Image (URL) field. In the pop up window that appears, locate your General Storage files and click the file you would like to use as your banner image.
  3. Copy and paste the URL of your image location. For example:
    http://manual.squarespace.com/storage/image42.jpg

Once you change this setting, click Save Changes to apply the new banner image.

Depending on the template you've chosen or styles you've applied before uploading your banner, you may need to adjust the padding in the Header element to align your banner correctly. If this is the case, navigate to Customizable Elements in your style manager and locate the Header element in the drop down menu.
