Absolutely, but it's also much more. Squarespace allows you to grow as a publisher by giving you the ability to not only maintain a serious blog, but expand your presence on the web into other areas. You can use Squarespace to publish anything on the web.

From one perspective, a blog (web log) is a format for organizing your information on the web. Blogs are online journals, maintained by one or more individuals, who publish opinions and articles on the web in a timely fashion. Blogs are incredibly easy to publish to, which allows all sorts of individuals to maintain very lively websites around whatever topic they're interested in.

How Is A Blog Different From A Website?

Generally speaking, blogs can form either your entire presence on the web, or just a part of it. A blog is just the journal portion of your website.

Who Should Blog? Can Companies Blog?

Absolutely anyone can blog. A blog is an excellent way for an organization to bring a personal feeling to their business, and to share insights with their customers. Individuals can use a blog to form a real-time information resource around any particular topic, or to simply keep friends and family acquainted with ones life.

How customizable is my Squarespace site?

Completely customizable. Our ultimate goal for Squarespace is for you to able to create almost any structure, style, or function of a website from within the Squarespace platform. We're well on our way towards meeting this goal too - our layouts and styles give you almost complete control over all aspects of how your pages are displayed to the public. You aren't forced to display our domain, our formatting, or our branding, if you choose to customize it away. Even if you don't - we've taken the hard part out of creating and managing your website.

Will it be apparent to visitors I'm using a managed website?

No. You can rename internal URLs, and put your website on your own domain. You can change your layouts, styles, and HTML. The structure of your website will not appear different than any custom hosted solution.

Are there any downloads?

No. Squarespace is a completely managed service, meaning that all software and data is located on servers owned and operated by Squarespace. This greatly simplifies your setup effort - just click on 'Create Account' and you'll be on your way.

What do I need to use Squarespace?

Just a reasonably up-to-date web browser. Unlike other services which may require you to install software onto your computer, Squarespace is a completely web-based service. To view the hardware requirements of our supported browsers please visit their web pages.

What browsers do you support?

Pretty much anything released within the past three years or so, and some much older. We support the latest versions of Mozilla, Internet Explorer, FireFox, and Safari. See our browser support page for more information.

What operating systems do you support?

Any operating system that can run one of the aforementioned modern web browsers. This includes Windows, Macintosh, and Linux platforms.

How much storage space do I get? How much bandwidth do I get?

The resources available to your account will depend on which package you sign up for with us. Full details are available at our pricing page

Can I download Squarespace and install it on my own server?

Not currently. We have no plans to release Squarespace as packaged software at this time.

I'm a merchant, can I use Squarespace to sell things?

While Squarespace does not have a built in shopping cart feature, you can easily link in PayPal links in order to sell items from within your Squarespace account. More information on that is available from Paypal directly.

You can use any third-party service to collect payments on your site that provides an HTML embed, such as E-junkie, Mals E-commerce, Foxycart, Google Checkout or BigCartel.

You can add the code to embed a payment button into any page of your site that's configured to accept code. In the WYSIWYG editor click the cog icon and add paste the code for your payment button there.

How can I ask a question about Squarespace?

Use our support ticketing system under the help tab in your website manager to file a question. We will respond to you directly.

Do you have an Affiliate plan?

Yes. More information about our Affiliate program can be found in the footer of your Squarespace account when you login and go to Website Management.

Do you have a Reseller package that allows me to repackage and sell Squarespace sites under my own brand?

Not yet. While we're working on a more generalized reseller program, you should contact us and detail us your situation so that we can suggest the best way to work with Squarespace.
