What happens at the end of my trial?

When your trial account expires, your account will be placed in a disabled state. In this state, you will be able to log in to your account to change billing information, should you wish to re-enable your account or continue with the system. Some features, such as access logs, may be cleared upon expiration. If an account in a disabled state looks to have been inactive for some time, we reserve the right to re-claim the login for other members of our system.

How can I pay for my account? Do you accept personal checks?

At this time, we only accept payment via a Visa, MasterCard, or American Express credit card. You can also use a debit card if it contains the Visa or MasterCard logo (most do). We do not accept any other form of payment (checks, money orders, or payments sent via Paypal's "send money" feature) at this time.

What happens if prices go up? What happens if you add new features?

You get to keep the rate you signed up at for the lifetime of your account with us, no questions asked. We generally incorporate features into existing plan levels, so you normally won't need to pay for new features to the service - you'll simply have them (if they've been added at your plan level, of course).

What happens if I stop paying for my paid account (without notifying Squarespace)?

Your account will be deactivated until we hear from you again. Squarespace sends multiple notices before taking any action of this sort, and the action taken to deactivate an account is always done by a human (never automated). It's important to keep a recent email address on file so that we can notify you of any sort of billing related problems with your account.

What happens if I exceed my allowed bandwidth usage for a given month?

You will not be penalized for small bandwidth violations, and each case is handled by a person, not a machine. You will be warned of any violations, and we will detail steps to correct the problem. You will never receive hidden bills regarding bandwidth overages, ever. If bandwidth usage continues to be high, and your account is not upgraded to handle the increased traffic, your account may be temporarily suspended until the end of the month (when your bandwidth meter resets). This suspension will never occur without adequate prior notice.

Generally, these situations are limited to users hosting large files for public download. You can serve thousands of pages of text within a single gigabyte of bandwidth.

How long do you keep deleted account data?

We currently keep deleted account data for approximately 6 months after account closure. While the data may reside in our system longer, we reserve the right to remove your account data at any point 6 months after canceling.

This is a guideline. In certain other situations depending on system status,we reserve the right remove the account data sooner (though we have never had to do this).

When I sign up for service I see a message that features will be removed, what does this mean?

When you create a trial site with Squarespace, you are given a trial with all features enabled (equivalent to the Business plan). If you're using features on your site that are not available with the plan you're choosing for service, then you will see a warning message that these will be removed. You can check the features you're currently using against the pricing page here to determine which package will be best for your needs.

Note: It is not possible to add features to a plan 'a la carte' at this time.

Do you participate in Mastercard Securecode or Verified by Visa?

No. Verified By Visa and MasterCard SecureCode are two new additional security measures being offered by their respective companies. Both require an additional code to be input at the time of purchase for participating on-line retailers. Squarespace does not participate in these programs. Cards enrolled in these programs can still purchase on Squarespace, the owners will simply not be prompted for passcodes. More information is available here:

I see a warning that Continuing Will Remove Injected Code, what does this mean?

This indicates that you're either using the code injection or the style/banner override feature, and you've chosen a plan that does not support this.

If you're using the code injection feature you can access this from [Website Management > Structure > Website Settings > Code Injection].

If you're using the style/banner override feature you will need to check the configuration for each page on your site, see this guide.

Both of these features are available with the Advanced package and higher. If you sign up for a package that does not include these features they will be removed.
